Located between Narbonne and Béziers, the village of Ouveillan is an ideal base for exploring this region. the region is filled with Minervois vineyards on one side of the Canal du Midi, while beautiful beaches and the Mediterranean Sea can be found on the other side. Once you set your foot out of the door, you are already immersed into the refreshing scenery of nature. When the area is explored a little further, a vast opportunity of discoveries await you: remarkable cultural sites, open-air markets, deserted beaches, olive oil producers and vineyards, all within thirty minutes of your holiday home.
One of my favourite hobbies is to walk or bike along Canal du Midi. The Canal was built under the reign of Louis XIV and it goes around Ouveillan (5 km way from the village). Considered as one of the top 10 historical monuments of France, it really deserves to be explored during your stay in Ouveillan. On my Instagram account Caherine.ferg.uson you will find many photos of my trips along the Canal.
If you too, would like to ride a bicycle alongside the Canal, you may book a complimentary bike during your stay: Three Adult size (S/M/L) electric bicycles are available to use for a day trip around Ouveillan. Enjoy the freedom!
The Narbonnaise Natural Park is the least urbanized part of the French coast after the Camargue and Corsica. You will find landscapes surrounded by water, canals, small rice fields, ponds, lagoons, etc... and white horses that you can ride if you wish. This natural park is also one of the largest migration routes for thousands of birds between Europe and Africa, which is a particularly special phenomenon to observe in autumn and spring.
Outings are organized by various associations with passionate experts who help you discover these strikingly natural sceneries!
The Ô Village guest house is only 30 minutes away from the beaches of the Mediterranean Coast.
Take advantage of your stay by swimming at the Gruissan beaches, Narbonne Plage, Saint Pierre La Mer, at the Cabanes de Fleury or at the Plage des Orpellières… Some of these beaches stretch for miles and become deserted starting in September. They stay accessible all year round with free parking. Known for its Californian atmosphere and its small restaurants with a view, I recommend the Plage des chalets located in Gruissan:
A guaranteed escape from your daily life!
